Men’s Rings in Sri Lanka: Silver Bands, Wedding Rings & Custom Designs

The Colored Stone Co. · April 2026 · 10 min read

Finding a well-made men’s ring in Sri Lanka takes longer than it should. Most jewellers carry the same few styles — a plain gold band, a signet in the usual dimensions, a handful of fashion pieces that look mass-produced. If you want something specific — a particular width, a particular finish, a ring that actually fits the way you want to wear it — you usually end up compromising.

This page covers everything in the men’s ring range at The Colored Stone Co.: the styles available, what each one suits, how pricing works, and how to get something made to order when nothing off the shelf is quite right. All men’s pieces are handcrafted in Colombo in 925 sterling silver, from LKR 14,900 for ready-made designs and from LKR 50,000 for fully custom work.

Wedding bands for men

A wedding band is the ring you wear every day for the rest of your life. The choice matters more than most men expect — not just aesthetically, but practically. Width, finish, and weight all affect how comfortable a ring is after eight hours on your hand.

A few things worth thinking through before you choose:

  • Width. Most men’s wedding bands fall between 5mm and 8mm. Narrower (5mm) sits more quietly on the hand; wider (8mm) makes a stronger visual statement. If you’re unsure, 6mm is a safe middle ground that works on most hand sizes.
  • Finish. Polished silver is bright and reflective — it shows scratches more readily but is easy to re-polish. A brushed or satin finish has a matte appearance that conceals minor wear and looks more understated. Many men prefer a brushed finish for a daily wear piece.
  • Profile. Flat bands sit flush against the finger. Comfort-fit bands have a slightly domed interior, which reduces pressure on the sides of the finger during wear. Worth specifying if you’re having a ring made to order.
  • Stone or plain. A plain band is the most versatile and timeless choice. A stone-set band — a single sapphire channel-set into the top, or small stones pavé-set across the face — adds presence without being conspicuous.

Ordering as a couple?

Many couples order his and hers wedding bands together. His in silver, hers in silver or 18K gold — the two can be designed to complement each other without being identical. Message on WhatsApp to discuss a coordinated pair.

Promise rings for men

A promise ring is a quieter kind of commitment — something to wear before an engagement ring is on the table, or as a meaningful piece that doesn’t need a formal occasion to justify it. For men, they tend to be simple: a clean band, a minimal design, something that sits well alongside a watch or worn alone.

Silver promise rings start from LKR 14,900. The silver promise rings collection includes ready-made designs available now, and custom versions can be ordered via WhatsApp. For a full guide to what a promise ring means and how to choose one, see the promise rings guide.

Statement and everyday rings

Not every ring needs a symbolic occasion attached to it. Some of the most worn pieces in the range are fashion or everyday rings — a chunky silver band worn on the index finger, a clean stackable design for the middle finger, a textured piece that works with casualwear.

The silver rings collection includes options across this category. Ready-made designs can be ordered immediately and delivered in 2–4 days. If you’re after something specific — a particular stone, an unusual profile, a heavier weight than what’s in stock — the custom route is worth exploring.

Stone-set options in this category typically feature a single centre stone (sapphire, black spinel, or other) channel-set or bezel-set for a secure, low-profile finish that doesn’t catch on things during daily wear. Prices for stone-set designs start from around LKR 30,000 depending on the stone.

Having a custom men’s ring made

A custom ring starts from a conversation. You don’t need a technical brief or a finished design — a reference image, a rough sketch, or even just a description is enough to get the process started. The pieces people end up with are usually closer to what they actually wanted than anything they could have found ready-made.

The process is straightforward. You message on WhatsApp with your idea. We discuss the design, the dimensions, and the stone if applicable. The design is developed through direct consultation and confirmed with you before anything is made. Once you’re happy with the direction, production begins and the finished ring is with you in 2–4 weeks.

Custom men’s rings start from LKR 50,000 for silver. More complex designs — larger stones, intricate settings, unusual profiles — are quoted after the brief. For a full walkthrough of the custom process, see the custom jewelry guide or visit the custom order process page.

Design confirmed before production

Nothing goes to the workshop until the design is confirmed with you. Proportions, dimensions, finish — all discussed and agreed before any work begins. No surprises on delivery.

Getting the right size

Men’s ring sizing has a couple of nuances worth knowing before you order.

Fingers change size throughout the day. Fingers are typically slightly larger in the evening and after physical activity, and slightly smaller first thing in the morning or when cold. For a ring you’ll wear all day, measure in the afternoon when your finger is at a more representative size.

Wider bands fit tighter. A 3mm band and an 8mm band in the same nominal size will feel different on the finger. Wider bands apply more surface pressure, so if you’re ordering a wide wedding band, you may want to size up half a size from your usual ring size. If in doubt, mention the band width when you order and we’ll advise.

Knuckle clearance. The ring needs to pass over the knuckle comfortably. If your knuckle is noticeably wider than the base of your finger, size to the knuckle rather than the base — a slightly loose fit at the base is easier to manage than a ring that won’t go on.

Use the ring size guide to measure accurately at home. If you visit the showroom, we can size you in person.

Resizing

Most silver bands can be resized after delivery if the fit isn’t right. Heavily engraved or stone-set bands have more limited resizing range — mention any concerns before ordering and we’ll advise on the best approach.

About 925 sterling silver

925 sterling silver is 92.5% pure silver alloyed with copper for strength. It’s a genuine precious metal — not a base metal coating, not fashion silver. The standard has been used in fine jewelry for centuries and is the same material used by established silversmiths worldwide.

All silver pieces at The Colored Stone Co. are rhodium-plated. Rhodium is a platinum-group metal applied as a thin finish coat that significantly improves scratch resistance, prevents tarnish, and keeps the ring looking clean over time. It’s the same finish used on white gold rings — and it makes a meaningful difference to durability.

With normal daily wear, a rhodium-plated silver ring holds its finish well. A few things help it last longer:

  • Remove before swimming in chlorinated water or the sea — both accelerate tarnish
  • Store in a closed box or pouch when not wearing it — exposure to air causes oxidation over time
  • Clean occasionally with a soft, dry cloth — avoid abrasive cleaners
  • Re-plating is available if the rhodium coat wears through after extended use — a straightforward service

The silver range at The Colored Stone Co. is also marketed under the sub-brand 925 by The Colored Stone Co. on Instagram — a dedicated channel for the silver range with its own content and community.
