How Buying Works
1
Message us with your budget and stone preference

4
We source the stone and send real photos and video
We search for a stone matching your brief, then send real photos and video of the actual stone — not catalogue images.
5
Production
Once the stone and design are confirmed, production begins in our Colombo workshop — allow 2–4 weeks.
6
Collect or ship
Collect in person in Colombo, or we arrange tracked, insured shipping if you're overseas.
We respond within hours.
If we're unable to source a stone that matches your requirement, your deposit is refunded in full.

Finished ring prices for every natural, heated sapphire design in this collection, in 18K gold, by centre-stone size. Blue is the most expensive colour at every size; violet is the most accessible. Yellow and rose gold cost the same; white gold costs about LKR 20,000–35,000 more because of the palladium alloy used to achieve its white colour.
Prefer an unheated stone? Our Blush Ring — a natural, no-heat pink sapphire (0.66ct) — is available from LKR 290,000, a single fixed design.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a sapphire engagement ring cost in Sri Lanka?
A Ceylon sapphire engagement ring at The Colored Stone Co. costs from LKR 245,000 for a natural, heated stone under 1ct, rising to LKR 1,095,000 for a 1.5ct+ blue sapphire, all in 18K gold. Blue is the most expensive colour at every size and violet the most accessible. Most of our sapphires are natural, heated stones — heating is a standard, industry-accepted treatment.
What's the difference between heated and unheated sapphires?
A heated sapphire has been treated at high temperature to improve colour and clarity — a standard, disclosed, stable treatment that is accepted industry-wide and far more affordable. An unheated sapphire is untreated and rarer, which is why it commands a premium. We offer one unheated design, the Blush Ring, from LKR 290,000.
Do sapphire engagement rings only come in blue?
No — sapphire engagement rings are not only blue. Alongside classic cornflower and royal blue, we set pink, teal, and violet sapphires, all sourced and certified the same way. Colour is a matter of preference, not quality.
Which sapphire colour is best for an engagement ring?
No colour is best — it is a matter of taste. Blue is the classic choice and the most expensive, pink sits in the middle and suits rose gold, and violet is the most affordable and the most distinctive. All three are natural Ceylon sapphires with the same hardness (Mohs 9), so each is suited to daily wear.
Are the sapphires in these rings certified?
Yes. Every centre sapphire comes with a certificate from a well-established local gemological lab such as CGJ or GIC, stating the stone's origin and whether it has been heated. We also send real photos and video of the actual stone before the ring is made.
What metal are the sapphire engagement rings made in?
Every sapphire engagement ring is made in 18K gold — white, yellow, or rose. Yellow and rose gold cost the same; white gold costs about LKR 20,000–35,000 more on these designs because of the palladium alloy used to achieve its white colour.
How long does a sapphire engagement ring take to make?
A sapphire engagement ring from The Colored Stone Co. takes 2–4 weeks to make from the point you confirm your stone and setting. Every ring is made to order in our Colombo workshop — there is no finished gold stock to browse; each ring is built for the buyer who ordered it.
Can I order a sapphire engagement ring from overseas?
Yes. Overseas buyers order entirely over WhatsApp: we send real photos and video of the stone, confirm the design, and ship the finished ring insured and tracked from Colombo. Shipping cost and delivery time are confirmed at the time of order — see our international ordering guide.
Where can I see sapphire engagement rings in Colombo?
You can see sapphire engagement rings at The Colored Stone Co., 195 Galle Road, Bambalapitiya, Colombo 00400, by appointment. Message us on WhatsApp first so we can arrange your visit and have the relevant designs ready — every ring is still made to order in our Colombo workshop.
